KAJEN – Monday (9/4/2018), on the sidelines of attending the Tea Time for the Pekalongan Regency Government at PT. Pagilaran Kaliboja Paninggaran District, Regent of Pekalongan KH. Asip Kholbihi, SH., M.Si took the time to visit the cooperative that produces tea in Sawangan Village, Paninggaran District. The name of the cooperative is Paninggaran Berdikari Makmur, founded by the Association of tea farmers in Paninggaran District, Pekalongan Regency.
Through the Multipurpose Cooperative (KSU) Paninggaran Berdikari Makmur, the Association of tea farmers is able to produce premium quality green tea. Green tea produced by this cooperative has been able to penetrate the market in West Java, such as in Bandung, Jakarta and its surroundings.
Regent of Pekalongan KH. Asip Kholbihi, SH., M.Sc., when inspecting the smallholders tea factory, stated that the smallholders tea factory was managed by the multipurpose cooperative Berdikari Makmur, with its product is green tea. “That’s women pickers, in a day they can get IDR 30k for picking 30 kilos, one kilo is one thousand rupiahs. Those are the farmers, already quite prosperous. Communities take advantage of appropriate technology. The Department of Industry and Trade provides a lot of help and assistance so that the factory initiated by the cooperative can continue to grow,” he said.
In fact, the Regent of Asip hopes that all the tea drunk by ASNs in the Pekalongan Regency Government can take from the green tea produced by the cooperative. Because, he continued, the tea produced by Paninggaran tastes good. For marketing itself, said Asip, the Paninggaran green tea has entered West Java (market), so the prospects are good.
“Pekalongan Regency is step by step starting to utilize products from its own region. Clothing, we already have batik, convection and others, now we are exploring again into the consumptive sector, such as we have a surplus of rice, we already have Petung coffee, and this, is Paninggaran tea. Besides the Pagilaran Kaliboja tea factory, there is also a tea factory owned by this cooperative,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Chairperson of KSU Berdikari Makmur, Khalwani said, the embryo of the establishment of the KSU Paninggaran Berdikari Makmur Tea Processing Unit started with the emergence of a tea farmer association in Paninggaran in 2014. Furthermore, they received assistance from the Jateng Berdikari Foundation, Business Watch Indonesia (BWI), and Pemkab Pekalongan, so that the cooperative emerged.
“We, with the Jateng Berdikari Foundation and the assistance of BWI, assist tea farmers in 10 villages, namely in Paninggaran, Sawangan, Krandegan, Lumeneng, Tanggeran, Bedagung, Kaliboja, Botosari, Lambanggelun and Tenogo Villages. Around 300 farmers have joined the cooperative, with a land area of 400 hectares,” he said.
With the provision of tea processing equipment from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, multipurpose cooperative Paninggaran Berdikari Makmur was finally able to produce premium green tea, with a price of IDR 50,000 per kilogram. “For the time being we have only received a few orders, one quintal a month that we already have an MoU with. We don’t have the courage to cooperate with the others yet because our first focus is on improving the land for improving tea cultivation, so that farmers can provide tea shoots, and then we dare to make deal with buyers,” he said.
Therefore, for now green tea production every day is only around 25 kilograms – 30 kilograms. For marketing itself, he continued, apart from the local market, green tea produced by this cooperative has been able to penetrate markets in Bandung, Jakarta and its surroundings. He hopes that in the future there will be investors who can work with farmers to pay for fertilizer first, so that farmers can pay after harvest. (didik/dinkominfo kab.pekalongan).
