The Indonesian Tea Council and Surakarta Municipal Government, with the support of the Business Watch Indonesia and Solidaridad, as well as the active involvement of Indonesian tea industry actors and stakeholders, held the Solo International Tea Festival on 12-14 October 2012. Main event took place at Pendhapi Gedhe Surakarta City Hall area.
This event consisted of several activities, namely Tea Expo, Workshop for tea connoisseurs and lovers, Training, Bazzar and Tea Rituals at Cetho Karanganyar Temple. The festival was attended by Tea Masters from various countries, namely Japanese Tea Master Soren M. CHR Bisgarrd from Kyoto, China Tea Master Ip Wing Chi – from Hong Kong, and India Tea Master Rajah Banarjee from Darjeeling, and Camellia Siow from Malaysia.
The Solo Tea Festival wass held with the aim of promoting Lestari Certified tea products to a wider range of consumers so that a domestic market for certified tea products is formed, and promoting Lestari Certification to the public so that more and more tea producers are interested in adopting Lestari Certification.
This activity received high appreciation from stakeholders in the tea sector, as evidenced by the many local processors participating in the Solo International Tea Festival including PTPN VIII – West Java, PT. Pagilaran – Yogyakarta, PT. Mitra Kerinci – West Sumatra, PT. Haredong – West Java, PT. Anggana – West Java, Elink Indo – Jakarta, Pucuk Harum Tea – Jakarta, “63” Tea – Jakarta, Tea Pot – Central Java, Java Plant – Central Java, Sintren Tea – Central Java, Balap Tea – Central Java, Gopek Tea – Central Java, Arafa Tea – Jakarta, Dandang Tea – Central Java and by Indonesia Tea Lover.
