As part of the Lestari Tea Program Development series in Indonesia, BWI and NRG (National Reference Group) held a Soft Launching of Lestari Standard on 8-9 February 2011 at Daffam Hotel- Semarang, Central Java. This activity aims to introduce the Lestari Tea Standard and the Lestari Tea Logo to farmers and related parties with an interest in the tea sector.
Theme of this event was “Workshop and Socialization of Lestari Tea National Standard and Domestic Market Development”. Aside from aiming to introduce the Lestari Tea Standard to related parties, the event also discussed domestic market schemes and strategies that are suitable for the Lestari Tea program, problems that may be faced by smallholders regarding the implementation of the Lestari Tea Standard, as well as inputs for Lestari Tea development in Indonesia.
Participants who participated were 22 people, a number of stakeholders related to the tea industry, especially the Central Java region, including the Indonesian Tea Council, government representatives (Central Java Provincial Government), Central Java Social Service, Central Java Cooperative Service, local processing companies (PT. Pagilaran), representatives of farmers (Mojotengah village farmers) and the Central Java CSR Forum
