To promote sustainable practices in the Indonesian tea sector through national standards and support the domestic market for certified tea products, BWI and NRG as event organizers collaborate with PT. Sariwangi, the Indonesian Tea Council and fully supported by Solidaridad held a launching of Lestari Tea Standard and Lestari Tea Products on 25 August 2011 from 09.30 to 13.00 in PT Sariwangi Hall, on Jl. Mercedes Benz No.288, Cicadas – Gunung Putri, Bogor.
Participants who attended this event: Executives of the Indonesian Tea Council, Members of the National Reference Group on Tea, Representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, Representatives of the Ministry of Trade, Director of Solidaridad- Nicolaas Roozen, Founder of Sari Wangi- Johan Alexander Supit, representatives of buyers and tea factories and around 100 farmers from the Mitra Harapan Cooperative from Cianjur, the Putera Mekar Cooperative, Garut and the Cikal Bakal Farmers Cooperative, Cikalong Wetan.
The event was opened with remarks from Mr. Subagyo as a representative from the Ministry of Trade, then Rahmat Badrudin as Chairman of the Indonesian Tea Council, Johan Alexander Supit Founder of Sari Wangi, Yusuf Iskandar representative of farmers, and finally Nico Rozeen Director of Solidaridad Netherlands. The event continued with the handover of certificates to the Mitra Harapan Cooperative – Cianjur, the Putera Mekar Cooperative – Garut and the Cikal Bakal Farmers Cooperative – Cikalong Wetan and PT Sari Wangi. The next session was the launching of certified products, symbolized by breaking clay jugs in front of the car decorated with Lestari product stickers and inside there were certified products including IROET, P 123, Sedap Wangi and Kepodang
